Your Website Really Needs This

5 Conversion Boosting Secrets

Welcome Indie Brand Builders!

Happy Easter!

If you’re anything like me, you’ve most likely poured your heart and soul into your website. It's sleek, informative, and showcases your product or service perfectly. Yet, the expected flood of customers is more like a trickle. Frustrating, right?

I’ve been there. I spent 12 years building websites for small businesses, soloprenuers and creatives. 99% of those websites failed to do their job.

They didn’t bring in new customers or leads. They didn’t make sales. They barely even got any traffic at all. 😢

Let me show you how to avoid this.

After 7 years and over $20k invested into training and coaches, I built (and sold) a successful online business. And I did it 100% with SEO and organic search.

Now it’s my mission to help businesses like yours get seen and make sales online. 🚀

Here are 5 of my top tips to get your website working for you.

1/ Compelling copy

We’ve all heard that phrase, Content is King. But it's not just about providing information; it’s about connecting, persuading, and guiding visitors through your site to take action. The words you use on your website are the gateway to engaging visitors.

  1. Tailor content to visitor awareness levels: Address your visitors based on their familiarity with your product or service. From educating the unaware to engaging the most aware, your copy should resonate with each visitor’s state of mind.

Your customer will fit into one of these 5 categories. How can you best serve each one of them?

    • Unaware visitors: Focus on elucidating their problem. Use straightforward language to unveil issues they might not even be aware of.

    • Problem-aware: Offer solutions. Your copy should clearly outline how your product or service solves their specific issues.

    • Solution-aware: Differentiate. Here, emphasize what sets your solution apart from others.

    • Product-aware: Reinforce choice. Use testimonials and case studies to validate their decision.

    • Most-aware: Direct call to action. These are your low-hanging fruits. Offer them irresistible deals or time-sensitive CTAs.

  2. Create a strong value proposition: Your value proposition is simply a clear, concise statement that captures the essence of what you offer and why it matters. Put this at the top of your home page.

  3. Get to the point: Show users exactly what do you, how you do it, and how their lives are going to be better. Highlight benefits, not features. Differentiate between features (technical aspects) and benefits. When you focus on benefits, you’re showing potential customers how your product or service can enhance their lives.

2/ Use psychology

Marketing is about understanding human psychology to genuinely connect with your audience. If you do this well it can significantly boost your website’s conversion rates.

Here are 3 ways:

  1. Reciprocity and scarcity: Offer something valuable to create a sense of indebtedness; use limited-time offers to create urgency.

  2. Show authority and social proof: Build trust with endorsements and testimonials. 💬 Show real people who have benefited from your offering.

  3. Create urgency: Use cognitive bias strategies like setting initial high prices and showing what customers might miss out on, to make your pricing and marketing more effective. For example, offering limited-time promotions creates a sense of urgency, encouraging quicker decision-making from visitors.

3/ Optimize design and user experience

Your website’s design is crucial in making a great first impression and guiding visitors through their journey.

Beyond getting your site professionally designed, you’ll want to focus on improving these areas:

  1. Intuitive navigation: Create a user-friendly experience with clear, logical navigation paths.

  2. Site speed: Fast-loading pages keep visitors engaged and reduce bounce rates.

4/ Effective calls to action

CTAs are the culmination of your website’s narrative. They should be clear, compelling, and strategically placed to guide visitors toward conversion.

  1. Use action-oriented language: Use language that evokes emotion and encourages action. Words like "Guaranteed," "Exclusive," and "Effortless" can be powerful. 🧨 Here’s a list of 400 power words.

  2. Visibility: Make your CTAs stand out with contrasting colors and prominent placement. Use the same color for all your buttons, and make it stand out from your brand colors. Don’t just place CTAs at the bottom of your pages, put them throughout your pages. 🌈

5/ Tell a story and build a connection

  1. Personalize your content: Share stories and experiences that resonate with your audience. Make it personal and relatable. Share your journey, the problems you’ve faced, and how you’ve overcome them. This builds a deeper connection and trust.

  2. Speak directly to your readers: Use clear, compelling language that resonates. Use ‘you’ and ‘your’ to make your content more relatable and engaging.

  3. Offer lots of free advice: Go over the top providing free value. Make it so good that your customers will say to themselves “Wow if the free stuff is this good, their product/service must be amazing!” 😉

That's it for this week!
